Optical Coherence Tomography

An eye examination including an OCT at Halls is a unique experience and the technology we have far surpasses any other high street opticians.

Optical Coherence Tomography, or otherwise known as an OCT, is a new imaging technique that provides high resolution and cross-sectional images of the eye. It gives our optician a very unique look at the retina and a real accurate representation of your eye health.  Because of this technology, we are able to diagnose eye conditions (as mentioned below) much earlier than any standard equipment could detect.

WHAT DOES AN OCT DO?
Our OCT performs up to 8 different scans and produces various 3D high definition images and reports. This allows our Optician to study your eyes in remarkable detail, from the top surface of your retina right down to underlying surfaces that are not visible to us by other means.

It provides exquisite details of retinal microstructures to assist in early detection, diagnosis and monitoring of various eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, macular hole and retinal detachments.

WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE IT?
Having an OCT scan in combination with your normal eye test will allow us to obtain the most detailed information possible about your overall eye health and not just your vision. Early detection of abnormalities will lead to timely treatment and a better outcome for the health of your eyes.
